This is my 100th post.Had a great time till now and hoping the same in future.I take this opportunity to thank all my friends and fellow bloggers particularly the ones who gave me the kick start and my family as well for all the support and praise.
Venison is deer meat.Today I went to the Asian shop to get goats meat;that was not there but the butcher;a ver nice man insisted me to buy venison.I did agree to give it a try after some persuasion. He had hunted it himself and was throwing at me recipes for venison.
Venison meat is less in fat compared to beef and lamb. The flavour is stronger than beef but cooks quicker and is leaner than beef.
Vension-1 kg,cleaned( If you do not like the strong flavour ,wash it with vinegar or lime juice)
Onions-2 finely chopped
Potatoes -2 boiled and cut into cubes
ginger garlic minced-2tbsp
garam masala/meat masala powder-1tbsp
curry leaves-2 sprigs
oil-2 to 3 tbsp
salt as per taste.
Grind the tomatoes, ginger, garlic and green chillies with a little salt to a fine paste. Now heat a pan.Add 2 tbsp of oil.Now add the onions to hot oil.Cook till its translucent.Add the powdered spices.Roast it till the raw smell is gone. Now add the tomato paste and cook till oil separates. To this add the venison.Mix and then pressure cook it for 3 whistles.(Add about 20 mls of water if u think its needed.)Let the cooker cool down on its own. While the meat is being cooked.Stir fry the potatoes in oil.Keep it separate. Now tranfer the venison curry into a pan and let the gravy reduce.Sprinkle pepper powder and finely chopped coriander leaves.Add the fried potatoes and give it a stir and switch off the flame .Now in a separate pan.Splutter mustard seeds in 1-2tbsp oil.Add 1 tbsp of finely chopped onions and curry leaves.Allow the onions to brown,Now pour this over the curry and close the lid.Leave it for 20 to 30 mins.
